Just wondering if anyone else has ever seen this,

I have no History in Internet Explorer 6, but I know what your thinking, and I have checked 'No of days to keep in History' and it is set to 20. But if I show History it always shows just today only with no pages below it.

I wonder if its a service I disabled or the fact that I have disabled Microshaft Messenger.

Any ideas you bright people?

you may have set windows or some add on utility to "clear user history at log-off"
yhe other possiblity is on the history list under view, you have selectedrder visited today" this only show sites visited today. Try switching to "By Date"

yeah firewall programs such as zonealarm also has clearing privacy stuff

if you have Tweak UI go to the control panels, run the utility go to paranoia and make sure clear history at login isnt checked off

Thanks for the ideas but even after i've logged on and been to a few pages, I get zip, zero, zilch. I have never used any privacy programs and have only just started using a firewall again (because of blaster), but before that still nada. Just started using messenger again, still nowt.
Even a heavy search of MS knowledgebase turns up naff all.

Ah well, keep the ideas coming.

UPDATE - If I change the view to show 'By Most Visited' then I do get some. ODD!

run the IE repair tool (from uninstall!? (seems like an odd place)
also see what your firewall is blocking
worse case is uninstall/reinstall IE.
the other posibblity is a virus keylogger gone bad, be sure to scan everything

After doing a re-install, it happened again but just after I installed McAfee Virusscan 4.5.1SP1.
Turned out it's something to do with ActiveX filtering so I disabled that and now it's OK. Strange bug!
Didn't notice it before when I disabled viruscan because even after disabling filtering you lose old history and you have to re-visit a few pages to get some back in again.

Just though I'd let you know so you can update you KB's

Cheers.

Yep...me tooo....I had a brand new system...only ten days old...I managed to crash it...trying to get my history back....after the crash I decided to leave McAfee on the shelf...Now I have no problems with my history folder.

Weird but true

ohhhh...I forgot this part...I even uninstalled McAfee and I still had the history prob....I went back to the man that built my computer and he won't sell McAfee anymore because it just doesn't get along with WindowsXP.
