How to stop A7N8X from checking memory

Hi guys. I have just replaced my Asus A7V333 with A7N8X Deluxe. What bothers me is that eventhough I have set Quick Power On Self Test to enabled but the board continues to check memory on boot up.

Hi guys. I have just replaced my Asus A7V333 with A7N8X Deluxe. What bothers me is that eventhough I have set Quick Power On Self Test to enabled but the board continues to check memory on boot up. I still have to press esc to stop the process. Can anyone tell me what to set on bios to stop this memory check on this board. Thanks for your responses.

the check also has something to do with the RAM itselfe ...

in SD RAM times I owned very good RAM at that time ... and I never had this counter ... all my friend always had it ... we thought it must be mobo ... but one day I switched to DDR and my friend got my old modul since then he does not have counter, too

hey man. I used to have that mobo before i got my nf7.
Dumb question but, did you let it finish the test once? Because you
also sometimes have that it just does it one time, and then ever again.
Also check your ram timings, they might be messing up your ram.

Hi YngwieII, yes, I have let it finished checking several times and I just set everything at default in regards to ram timing. I do have 2 different brands of 512mb each though so I wonder if this is the cause. Additionally, can all ram do dual channel or do I have to use specific type of ram designed only for dual channel?

Let me correct that a little bit if i may Mertsch, you can indeed
use all amounts of ram. But the two sticks have to be identical.
So if you have 512mb and another 512mb, they have to
be the same company, and preferably the same type.
So for example, OCZ ddr 400 rev 2, for dual channel, get
another rev 2 of the same amount of memory.

hmm there might be some other conflict though with that ram checking.
But are you in dual channel mode at all? you have to use slots 2 and 3
or 1 and 3. Abit recommends 2 and 3. And i think asus does too.

Hope that helps

nothing like losing a few precious seconds, huh? I have 3 sticks of Corsair XMS PC3500 in each of my A7N8X Deluxe 1.04 and 2.0 boxes. I figure it takes less than two seconds upon initial boot to do the memory count and it's not even perceptible when rebooting. All things considered it's really bitching about nothing...

if you use 256 and 512 it is just like on RAID u will have 512MB DUAL channel ... which would be really stupid for sure

and I use corsair v 1.1 and v 2.2 modules together ... I won't say all modules work together but the most will ...

the other things are mainboard questions ... if u have no DUAL channel mobo u can't go DUAL for sure :)

If you have a setting like Memory Parity Check in your BIOS then disable it.

Usually the mem check has to be completed succesfully a few times before the BIOS starts skipping the check. Let it run, don't press escape.
