Hi,
Ive got a new harddisk drive (Maxtor) that I will be stting up XP HomeEdition sp1.
The drive came with MaxBlast3 software, which alows me to setup partitions and format the drive.
What I wanna know is, should I use this software, or use the options that XP presents on installation. Is there any performance issues?
Also, if Im using a VIA KT3 chipset based motherboard should I use the Hyperion v4.46, or older VIA4in1 v4.43 ??
TIA.

use the software, the greatthing about maxblast is that it formats and partions the drive about 100x faster then any version of WinNT can.
And if your dealing with a very large drive.... you get the picture.
another great utility for when the drive gets older, and alot of bad sectors are present is to do a low level format with powermax, somthing i did reacently with a 4-yr old 40gb maxtor drive, the drive acts like its new again.

Raistlin:
winxp partitons and fast formats in the installer takes no time at all...
not if u do from inside winxp/2k, and if you do it from the installer you have no control over the cluster size. Not to mention if your installin NT4 your limted to a 4gb partion for the primary, and if it isn't Sp6 You can't go over 4gb partions till NT4 is installed, otherwise, partion errors occur, or the installer pops back up saying invailid win95 partion, and demands you repartion.
