Alright here is the deal and thank you for reading this. I have a ati 8500 128mb built byATI. I Also have a KDS visual sensations VS-195 xp monitor. Ever since ATI released Catylyst drivers I have had this strange problem where the card no longer recognizes my monitor and suddenly thinks it is a hdtv where it says YPbPr in the display section.. This results in a funky scrolling desktop and A lovely shade of green( that wonderful Y in the YPbPr) on everything as well as a couple of horizontal white lines across my screen. I have this problem with every version of the catylyst released to date, including the 2.5 release. I have contacted ATI and they gave me some stuff to do including reassigning resources adjusting my mobo bios all of which I did to no avail. If I plug my DV camcorder into the Digital output of the card I can get my screen monitor to be recognized, but this is not a viable solution for me, as I only got that to work once. Anyone know if there is a fix somewhere for this? Be it Mobo drivers, vidcard drivers etc.. I would really like to start using the catylyst drivers since they have some signifigant gains over my current ones but I can't. Oh and I will never buy ATI again, they have absolutly been no help at all and they know this is an issue with the radeon 8500 and some systems but they refuse to fix it, instead tehy waste their time making sure max paynes glasses look spiffy in 3dmark.

TIA for any help

System specs:
Athlon XP 1600+, 512 mb pc133 ram,SIS735, Soundblaster live value, Radeon 8500(128mb), Hp DVD writer DVD200i, Pinnacle video capture card, and Windows Xp Professional.

Dood!!! I went to hell & back with the 8500!!! I am soo glad I dumped that thing off on a friend.. I had all sorts of trouble with mine & ATI was absolutly zero help... I only found 1 set of drivers that would ever work & to this day its still the only drivers it will accept!!! I still have those drivers some place but I think they are for Win98... My 8500 was a even bigger nightmare with WinXP... & to this day my old 8500 is about the only thing I have ever run into that could consistantly crash XP!!!

I WISH ATI WOULD DIE!!!!

Anyway... If you would like some help i'll do my best.. What if any instant messengers do you have?

First of all do a clean unistall of your radeon drives (read post no.5) then install not the build by ati drivers but the reference 7.80 drivers for the powered by ati cards. Download them from the Sapphire's site (http://www.sapphiretech.com/downloads/downloads.asp) not from ati's site. And your problem will be solved ... I think...
