Graphics Card replacing

This is a discussion about Graphics Card replacing in the General Graphics Card Talk category; Hi all, Gonna be taking out my Geforce 3 Ti200 (64MB) and putting in an Radeon 9800 Pro (128MB). Is it just a case of stick the new card in, and get the newest Catalyst? Or do I have to uninstall the old card and drivers first? Thanks, Mark.

you should uninstall drivers but its not needed .... WinXP is very good in handling 2 drivers at once so you can switch the card at any time having full support for 2 or 3 cards .... just in case you switch it any day :hmm: :hmm:

no for real .... you can let the driver remain ... it will not harm the upgrading process but its recommended to do so, so that unneeded autostarts and services are deinstalled, too
those would be loaded any start for nothing

uninstall to have the least risk of the system cluttering up.

Thanks guys.

Have dl'ed DriverClean to get rid of all trace of NVidia before the 9800 Pro goes in.

Doom 3 arrived on my doorstep today!
