GeForce3 TI200 vs GeForce4 MX440
This is a discussion about GeForce3 TI200 vs GeForce4 MX440 in the Nvidia General Topics category; Just looking for a bit of advice on these two cards as the websites I have been looking on have them both similarly priced. I currently have a PentiumIV @ 1.4GHz, 256MB RAM and a 64MB GeForce 2Ti so either of the two cards would be an upgrade from what I have.

I currently have a PentiumIV @ 1.4GHz, 256MB RAM and a 64MB GeForce 2Ti so either of the two cards would be an upgrade from what I have. I dont really need TV out so I'm just after your opinions on which card would be best in respects of performance and overall image quality.
Any comments or recommendations would be much appreciated :)

Go for the Geforce 3 ti200 or maybe a Geforce 4 ti4200, the price is almost the same...but ok...it was Geforce 4 mx 440 Vs Geforce 3 Ti200.
The GeForce 3 Ti200 support DirectX 8.1 in the hardware, the Geforce 4 Mx 440 do not.
The Gefoece 3 Ti200 got Nvidia´s nfiniteFX Engine, the Geforce 4 Mx 440 do not.
But the Geforce 4 Mx 440 got nView display technology, and the Geforce 3 Ti200 do not.
So....go for the Geforce 3 Ti200

I found a GF4ti4200 a week ago for £70 but by the time I could afford to order it it had gone and they only had then at £110. Thanks for the advice, looks like I'll be going for the GF3, specifically the Inno3D Tornado GeForce3 Ti200 128Mb DDR. There was only £9 difference between the 64MB and 128MB version so I figured I may as well go for the 128. :)
Why don't you get an Radeon 9100? Its faster than the ti-200 und supports Pixel Shader 1.4. I found an 128 MB model for only 95 EUR here in Germany, don't know he UK prices.
Between any MX and GF3, the GF3 will win every time.
I have to agree with Colin though and say check out some of the Radeon prices, the 8500 and 9100's are very cheap at the moment and are much faster than a Ti200.

It's been quite a long time since I used an ATI card which is why I hadnt really considered them when I decided to upgrade, I didnt know much about their newest Radeon lines. After looking around I've found the Radeon Atlantis 128MB DDR Tv-out for £62.99 which is only slightly more than the GF3TI so its looking like a choice between one of those two cards at the moment..
Which Radeon ?
I would suggest you think about waiting for the GeForce FX to appear to give prices over the whole market a good kick in the nuts. Everything should go down as the GeForce FX takes the crown...including the Radeon 8500 (Which do have better benchmarks than the GeForce 3)...you could also consider getting a GeForce 4 ti4200 when the prices fall, they are good cards - or even the ti4800 (Which aren't too expensive and have great power). Be sure to check out all those cards :P

Personally I have a winfast GeForce Ti200 128MB, it's an excellent deal for only 130 dollars, much cheaper than the GF4 which can run you up to 200 dollars.
And the GF2 ti is faster than the GF4 mx anyway...
i still have Asus GF 3[V8200] no TI
it's exelent
and O/C very well
from 200/460 @ 250/550 > with no external cooling only what comes on the Card
it's give great performance

anything without an MX, FX(earlier nv30s) (XX, RX, SX, AX, BX, j/k )

As said: gf3 is faster than any MX card.
I would recommend gf4 card or one of the latest midrange cards. GF3 has enough kick to play colin mcrae rally 3, but I would still go for a directx9 if buying a new graphics card.
if you are going for a DirectX 9 based card it would have to be one of the new FX series
8.1 ends with TI4800se
9.0 starts with FX5200

Well I do know that. I was recommending a bit faster card and gf4 was the first one that comes to my mind. I would personally get new dx9 card. I wasn't clear enough. Sorry.

Yes mx is crap.
