I personally just like the extra features ASUS usually throw onto thier boards, not many others (besides maybe MSI) like putting on so many features. Things like customizable POST graphics, firewire, QFAN, COP, C-Media hardware sound instead of AC97 Codecs...they just add more than the default board that a lot of manufacturers do now.

They also like throwing in things like the USB expansion "cards" with more ports for their boards when most companies would charge you for them as options.

Asus is by far the best, but I totally screwed my last one (A7V333) by stabbing it QUITE HARD with a screwdriver while trying to remove my ThermalTake Volcano7, had to buy a new one, A7V8X, and it rocks even more :)

Epox 0wnz!
Lots of BIOS updates can generally mean a bad and buggy mainboard.
I mean why shouldn't the mainboard be working perfectly when it's released?
BIOS updates should really just add CPU support :P

I used to buy Abit or Asus strictly... But I tried a Gigabyte board & have stuck with them.... I am totally shocked at how good my Gigabyte boards are...

Also my Gigabytle boards have the easiest bios upgrade utility I have ever used & it came with my GA-7VRX board... If none of you have tried Gigabyte you may want to think about it.... I couldn't be happier with mine...

It also comes down to local availability. Around here Asus is easy to find as is AOpen, ECS and Gigabyte. Just about everything else is a custom order.

I personally love MSI mobo better!

My personal experience with ASUS mobos is that they tend to be less stable than their MSI counterparts.

I think maybe you've come to wrong conclusions. I always checked to see if there was a new BIOS to make my POS Asus motherboard work. But nope, turns out the solution was to go with Gigabyte.

BTW Asus P4S8X sucks!
