Hello @ all,

I have some questions regarding the RAM and OC Ability. I have 2x DDR 400 from Corsair. The fastest ones which are available for a pair price of nearly 250-280US$ . I am wondering which RAM timings you have to get the DUAL Channel RAM running @ 202 Mhz stable. I cant come over 182 Mhz. When I run 3D Mark it crashes after a while @ 185 Mhz. Can this be ?!?! What might be the problem here ? I cant imagine spending 550 US$ into expensive RAM and this Board to get only 182 Mhz at the FSB stable. I bought also a Prometeia case. But its not working over 182 Mhz. and I am not satisfied with this result. Which settings do you have, and how do i best configure my RAM ?? Running as DDR 400 ? Or DDr 333 ?

And a question to the DUAL Channel. I got one of my RAMS on the right side of the board. (On the single Row which is alone). The 2nd RAM is on DIMM 3 I think (on the far left where the 2 rows are together, so that the middle row is empty). Is this automatically configured in my Machine as DUAL RAM ???? Or do I need to set them up somewhere in the Bios?? Hope someone can help me here.

Furthermore i got some problems with this board. I cannot overclock my AMD 2600+ . If I increase the MP to 16.0 or 14.0 x 166 FSB, my system shows "overclocking" failure and loads up with 1250 Mhz on the defauls settings. In the past I never had such problems ! ASUS A7V8X and EPOX 9K+ <- something like that i had earlier and overclocked my CPU easily to 2700 Mhz. I use the newest Epox Bios from the 17/01 or 19/01 . Actually it changed not this problem. Why is that so ???? Seems like a problem from the Bios ?! I hope my board is not damaged. Everything runs perfect, except I change the mp in the Bios. Even to 13x doesnt change the system.....:-(

I hope someone here can help me.

By the way....the system runs @ 190 Mhz into Windows very fast...only when I use 3d Mark 2001 it hangs at the start...do I need to increase the AGB Voltage !?!?! <-- or is this too dangerous because of the 1.5 V !?? I never increased the AGB Voltage, cause I am afraid to damage the card.

OK well... here are the 1 2 3s on the board from what I gathered. U cant get 200fsb stable without a new northbridge cooler... (DONT ADD A FAN LIKE I DID IT MADE CONDENSATION) Once u have active cooling on the northbridge and an effective southbridge heatsink..

I have 2 blue orbs on both my north and south.. may seem like overkill but it does the job.

I am limited right now cause I cannot raise the northbridge voltage... new asus bios suposedly allows it thru bios with modding. I am not going to mod my mobo either. My mobo is rock stable all day long... before I added cooling I had same problems as you cept my memory was overclocked and yours isnt.

Also I hope your setting your multipliers low enough so your cpu isnt overheating. What cooling you have?

My voltages are:
AGP: 1.6
CPU: 1.8
DDR: 2.77

Prometeia Cooling Case

So this will do the perfect job.

Sorry man but your so wrong... go away with that stupid ****.

Prometia wont cool anything other than his CPU and the problem is the POS North Bridge heatsink that EPOX used.

Do you even own an EPOX?

Sure I do own an EPOX ! Prometeia does a perfect job to the CPU. There is nothing better. The motherboard and the complete Tower gets cooled too. Youre wrong about that! So what do I have to do now ?!I dont need to fix or replace the motherboard cooler which epox used to get my RAM higher than 182 MHZ stable. This cant be ! The board must go to 200 Mhz without any mod.

You have to go into Bios & change 'Halt on error' to 'no errors' - it's under the 'standard cmos' menu item - then you'll be able to overclock you cpu as much as you like.

Make sure to increase DDR Voltage to 2.9 at least to get it working above 200 fsb.

& Of course CPU Voltage to maybe 1.95 to get it ridding at 2500 mhz or above

Lock the PCI to 66 mhz

I hope this will help on the way
:D

Bluesman!

Thanks for your help. How do i LOCK the PCI to 66 Mhz ??!!?

What about RAM ?! So I just put the RAM on DDR 400 mode 100% performance and increase the FSB to 200 ?! Then its 1:1 SYNC with the CPU , isnt it !? I hope that works...cause then the system will blow...

By the way Bluesman, which RAM TIMINGS should I use ?!?!

This is Epox Forum you can go there get all the help you need
All about New bioses etc.

I think the Lock the PCI is an option like the sync / async with CPU/Ram - should be under the same bios enu item.

You'll be able to reach 240 fsb on the ram but I'm not sure you'll able to do that sync but it's worth the try but it requires alot of Volt to the CPU.

Damn people.. u dont lock your PCI to 66mhz they're locked at 33 already..http://www.epox.com/html/motherboard-downl...43e2Po3r23ro23J

Now AGP should be locked at 66mhz and thermal throttling should be turned off.

DAMN, m4st3rd0n1, read the Prometeia Cooling Case reviews and manuals. It will explain how the mainboard gets cooled too. Its a complete tower!

Yeah of course PCI fre. is 33 mhz & already locked.
Sorry for misleading you. I just thought that it was an optional option to lock it or not. I was wrong, sorry.

OK I know how Prometia cases work. It's basically a fridge compresser and some freon, condensing unit.... I am an A/C man so I KNOW how they work. Now unlesse it has a coil blowing cool air like an AC unit then I dont see it cooling the case any.

if you know that, then why you ask such stupid question ?!?
