Enter the Matrix Error
This is a discussion about Enter the Matrix Error in the General Gamers Place category; Every time i hit Play in the launch screen i get a DEVICE NOT CREATED 2 message box. anyone else get this? i'm in winxp, 768mb ram, geforce 2ti (44.03), sb audigy.

I had the same problem. I have an LCD monitor and was trying to run the game in a lower resolution than its native res.

I tried in 800x600, 1024x768, and 1280x1024.. no go.
ETM seems to bug alot! The game lags beyond playable when 2 or more enemies are in the same room. Very disturbing! And it shouldn't lag with my system specs. Tried decreasing the graphics to the lowest, runs exactly as laggy as in 1600X1200 with full detail.

the problem is with the refresh rate, if your using anything like reforce to fix the xp refresh rate, disable it, then go to your display options and override the directx refresh rate. i have radeon 9800 and the game runs pretty smooth here, except for a few lockups and can't get eax hd to work with my audigy 1 card other than that its a cool game

looks like the infogrames people had some weird idea to lock you at one rate..

Lags like hell with Radeon 9700PRO, at least for me :)
1600x1200x32 FSAA4x Aniso 16x 50-80fps on R9800Pro very smooth !
Well, I just finished the game
Had to turn my refreshrate to 60 again though.. And the EAX-sounds didnt work either. :
It was fun, as long as it lasted..
For me the game ran quite smooth and not many bugs. There were flickering textures and the game crashed 2 times but I can live with that..

I got it to run 100hz no problem..
using the beta 44.03 drivers installed them...i use the d3d and set override refresh rate to 100hz..use hz tool to set my 16 and 32 bit 1024*786 & 1152*864 to 100hz and presto game works in 100hz.
use hz tool not refreshforce or refreshlock !!!!!

HZ Tool is a freeware tool for Windows 95/98 that lets you set the refreshrate for all resolutions, including the ones that Windows normally don't let you use. You can also change resolution and bit-depth.

i got the same problem with ETM. Everytime i want to start it im getting that annoying "DEVICE NOT CREATED 2" error.
I installed the new detonator 44.03 and the ETM patch 1.52 . still doesnt work :-(
i used the nvidia refresh override tool that is with the NVIDIA Media Center. I got a GF4Ti4200 and 19" Screen, so i tried 60 Hz, 85 Hz and 100 Hz for resolution 1024x768. Also tried safe mode and disabled all features in the options menu. still hanging...im very desperate.

I am having a problem with ETM locking up on me on my PS2 at the "Catching a Plane" stage. I can't get passed it!! Should I return the game??
My Opinions on ETM
BUGGY!
1. Refresh rates, it's all screwed
2. Controls - are horrible, PCs really suck at 3rd person and my sidewinder D-pad is "supersensitive" - it's hard to control movement
3. Camera angles always go crazy, usually at the worst times (like when you're fighting a bunch of cops.
