i have had the divx player for over a year with no problems. yesterday i try to watch a divx film with mp3 sound.i get this annoying error messgae saying i dont have the mp3 decoder; BUT i have downloaded the fraunhaufer mpeg layer 3 decoder, plus windows media player can play mp3s. i proceeded to uninstall player and codec and revert to an older version. same damn problem. does anyone know the reason for this? divx is better for avis than WMP, plus uses all the cool things fot ATI hardware.

back when i had my gf4mx440, i installed nvdvd. i found the interface to stink, so when i brought my new card, i uninstalled this in favour of powerdvd, as from reviews i saw, the nvdvd doesnt like other brand cards. i like watching dvds in wmp, as i can then use the multimedia keys on my keyboard to skip chapters etc. now if i try 2 load any dvd in WMP, i cant play it as the decoder isnt installed, but it is!! powerdvd plays dvds, but i dont like the interface. is there a way to tell media player to use the powerdvd decoder?

thanks for any help

hmmmmm missing MP3 codec ... that cant be is that only one video or does it happen on all now ?
seems like a very strange error ... that best thing you could do now is to check out http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ with this tool you can show all used codec and how/where to get em check what this tool say .... maybe the video is just corrupt ....

last thing to use is www.videolan.org this baby can play much more things then any other player without the need of install codecs ....

and no, there is no PowerDVD plugin to emulate PDVD in WMP there is just one to play DVDs in WMP but if it works I dunno ...

maybe i wasnt clear in my explanation of problems

i used to, until 5 dsays ago used to be able to play all my divx files with mp3 codec. suddenly, for no reason i cant play them anymore. is this a bug in the os and what do i do to fix it?

with dvds; i used to be able to play dvds in windows media player. after scrapping nvdvd in favour of powerdvdxp, i cant do that as it tells me the right codec isnt installed. is there any way, in the registry to tell wmp what to use?

i have gspot; it shows 2 compatible codecs for video and one for audio. the strange thing is that the divx video decoders have the same location for being installed. this is confusing.

i only want to use divx player coz i have ati hardware so i can use my gfx card to do the work and i get fullstream. does anyone know a solution?

thanks for any help
