DirectX9 Final: installation issues/bugs/benchmarks/...
Roxio has continued the Adaptec philosophy of writing the absolute worst install and uninstall routines in the business. Their tech support is laughable, and their programming abilities are the pits.

Dont be so hard on the ATI owners guys. I like the comments davenufc )
I had a 9700 and man that card is fast compared to everything out there at the moment. However as to the drivers they are a dam site better than they used to be. I personnally had no probs with me 9700 but i decided to sell it on rather hastely with the news of the GeforceFX. (Wish i hadnt as me geforce 4 TI4600 is dog shit compared to it!!) The IQ of the ATI is superior to the geforce line of video cards at present and i do hope Nvidia sort that out. But i can see a 3DFX situation here dare i say it, Nv have missed a whole generation of Video Cards and when the FX is released ATI will be putting out the 9900 pro?? I was always a 3dfx fan i hated Nvidia TNT, TNT2 etc but look what happened to them. Just think soon you may only have a choice of ATI and Matrox and i know which i prefer. And it aint the Matrox.

Hopefully DirectX9 will be shipped as a Christmas present |8) 8)
Microsoft has postponed the launch of DirectX 9 for a week. Officially the DirectX 9 would be introduced on Thursday 12th but its plans have been changed.
The new "final date" is 19th of December.

I will be honest with you. I bought the 128mb ATI8500 when it first came out and I really have never had so many problems with any video card ever. Bad drivers, heat issues, you name it. I am going to switch back to Nvidia as soon as they release the NV30 and per Carmack the Doom3 engine will reach ultimate optimization on a NV30. So yes it runs on a 9700 but it will run better on a NV30. Doom3 (Id) and Quake 4 (Raven) share the same core engine. It is not Opengl, it is not glide (ah sweet, sweet glide lol), it is Directx. Is it 8 or 9 who cares? I'm sure it will use both and probably some of 7,6,5,4,3,2 and 1 also..
Curently I get like 4 FPS with my 8500 and a whole slew of graphical anomalies in the doom3 e3 demo, so either way i need a new card for these games and a new mobo and a new processor and a 6.1 sound card and... and...
Oh well, you boys have fun. I have some gold stars to earn in BF1942.

Tested Directx 9 with new Ati 3.0 drivers. Everything seems to work perfectly, besides that, the screensavers from Ati are stuttering slightly??? Someone got this also??? What's the reason for this??? Thx
