Computer hangs when using soundblaster live! 5.1 player

This is a discussion about Computer hangs when using soundblaster live! 5.1 player in the General Hardware category; I think you should turn of Allow Internet sites to uniquely identify your Player under options, if don't want it (I do not KNOW ot will fix it, but I think so).

I recently got myself a new HDD [iBM / Hitachi 180GXP 80Gb] and CPU [AMD ATHLON XP2400+ 266MHz FSB] and installed the detonator drivers [44.03] and the SBLive! drivers that came with the Soundblaster Live! 5.1 Player.

When listening to mp3's when the computer hung, and again when i was watching a dvd.

I changed the sound drivers to the latest download for the card as listed on the Creative site [sound Blaster Live! - LiveDrvUni-Pack English 10/03/2003] and the computer still hangs when using sound.

I have a ECS k7S5A motherboard and all the onboard sound has been turned off. Everything worked before I changed the CPU and HDD. Windows XP has SP1 installed and all the Updates to date. Before the CPU and HDD upgrade, everything worked like a dream.

If anyone has any hints of why my computer keeps hanging then I would be most grateful.

Thanks in advance

Are you using the mother board with Via KT266A/KT266? If yes you would have the same problem as i did. Don't use the latest detonator, use 40.72 if i am not mistaken cause i didn't have any problem with this baby.

I have upgraded the ram at fist, than i found it useless.
and then i change my mobo to MSI KT4V and it works perfectly without any crash. both listening and playing game.

i know this may sound like the sound cards problem but actually it is not.

Or the last one is to change the AGP Vcore to >1.5 <1.7.
