Yipee, been using Blueyonder cable for a couple of years now, good service.

Pity it doesn't look like they'll increase the upload speed beyond 128Mb/s as well.

They might.

The 2mbit and 4mbit will all have 256Kbit upstreams.

The old 1mbit service of a few years ago used to have 256kbit up where as the 512kbit was only 128kbit.

Could be worth enquiring about.

Doubt it, They don't want filesharers clogging up the network. I think most ISP's are the same in this respect, which is fair enough I guess, even though I do like to use e-mule and bittorrent from time to time.

Did you not read the actual Blueyonder page he links to, 3meg soon to be 4meg will get upload increased from 256k to 384k, so thats crappy 32KB up gonna be bit better 48KB up.

Always did have 256k up on 1meg service then 2meg then free upgrade to 3meg and will have till new free upgrade to 4meg, only the 512k had 128k upload apart from new cut down serivces that werent around when i got cable long ago as 512k was flagship, i would have hoped for 512k up on 4meg lol.

The flagship 3Mb service becomes even quicker - a 4Mb connection which offers speeds up to 80 times faster than dial-up access. We're also increasing the upload speed for this service to 384k. Price remains £50 a month.

NTL and Telewest are pulling similar stunts with their cable packages. In NTL's case 300K is going to 1meg, but you have to pay a £25 "administration fee" and then your monthly bandwidth is cut to only 5gig, rather than the current 1gig a day.

As you know there like sister companies and are mean to or maybe have already joined up.

But i was told last time TW gave upgrades, "just before summer", thats NTL cant offer same speeds as TW for some reason, they share bandwidth on the pots in the drainholes in streets between houses, the closer you are to top connection on this pot the better bandwidth you get, i was sceptical of this as telewest claimed theirs worked different and i was pleased to find later in some pull out suppliment in a PC magazine that it was true and TW won best ISP of year few times in a row, and that they talked about NTL's sharings bandwidth and that TW dont use this system but wont discuss how they give each home full bandwidth, lol.

All i know is i had lot of probs when 512k was new as of faults in street in drains and pots, but since 1meg>2meg now 3megs im happy chappy.
