Its really gay because once I do that my comp keeps restarting on Windows XP loading screen and then even if I choose "Start Windows Normally" or the "Start Windows With Working Configuration" (or whatever its called), it still wont go in.
The longest way is to start windows in Safe Mode and then shut down and then wait for couple of hours... and that aint even assured.
So... WHY do I keep getting it?
How do I get rid of it?
NOTE: I opened comp and tried every other power lead plug and pushed it in really HARD.
Thx,

agreed with both above
it can be:
ram timings
bios
temperature
hardware
i would say upgrade the bios, though it can be the last on the list
http://www.ocworkbench.com/2002/ecs/k7s5aguide/ has Non-Official BIOS aka Cheepoman Overclocking BIOS
i used to have a problem with my computer shutting down after a certain amount of time, after i updated my bios my comp has been on 24/7 since then, if its a related problem then upgrading you K7S5A bios would be a choice
good luck 8)

For the Memory test, use Memtest86.
www.memtest86.com
Out of all the software-based memory testers it's probably the best. But beware, memory errors can also be caused by another component on the motherboard, but you're first bet is the memory [since it's also easier to replace it's also convenient].

if you can boot safe mode
that ushually means its a driver problem
do a system restore back to when it was working fine

I always try to do a BIOS update but I keep getting errors about bad sectors when I try to update it, hmmm.
The Temperatures very low so I doubt it would be that. Note that this started after I swapped my PSU with another and I started getting it so I swapped back and it still continued :-? . Now i've swapped it AGAIN and I did a defragmenter and its gone but im now getting OTHER errors  . Ive really had enough... i get problems among problems among problems. ehhhh

RMA your mother board
RMA your ram
See if you can get it replaced or something :D

Well, try this. When in doubt, set everything in your BIOS to the slowest possible speed. This includes FSB, memory timings. switch off anything you think you might not need. Try the board again, what happens?
Concerning your BIOS update errors, please don't tell me you've got some Anti-Virus BIOS flash switch set to enabled?!?
If it is disabled, maybe you should get the BIOS chip replaced? just a thought? ;)

WAY HEY IT WORKS NOW!!! I just ran DiskDefragmenter once more and now it works :DDD.
Thanks for the advice AND the help. Much appreciated.
Oh d3mon... Anti-Virus BIOS flash ??? Whats that. No I aint got the on. Havent even got that feature.
Btw to get on to MS-DOS I put in the Win98 backup disk and then take it out and try to run it like that so maybe thats why it dont work? I dont know how else to get to MS-DOS. Hehe it sounds dumb but you dont that option on Win XP. I do get this option on bootup saying F12 for Network Boot or something... maybe thats it?

Anti-Virus Protection
Common Options : Enabled, Disabled, ChipAway
Details
The Anti-Virus Protection feature is actually an enhanced version of the Virus Warning feature. Besides the standard boot sector or partition table protection, this BIOS feature also offers more comprehensive anti-virus protection via built-in rule-based anti-virus code like ChipAway.
When you enable this feature, the BIOS will halt the system and flash a warning message whenever there's an attempt to write to the boot sector or the partition table. Note that this only protects the boot sector and the partition table, not the entire hard disk.
This feature can cause problems with software that need to access the boot sector. One good example is the installation routine of all versions of Microsoft Windows from Windows 95 onwards. When enabled, this feature causes the installation routine to fail. Also, many disk diagnostic utilities that access the boot sector can also trigger the system halt and error message as well. Therefore, you should disable this feature before running such software.
Alternatively, you can select the internal rule-based anti-virus code. The software used in the reference motherboard is called ChipAway. Enabling ChipAway provides better anti-virus protection by scanning for and detecting boot viruses before they have a chance to infect the boot sector of any hard disk.
Note that this feature is useless for hard disks that run on external controllers with their own BIOS. Boot sector viruses will bypass the system BIOS with its anti-virus protection features and write directly to the hard disks. Such controllers include additional IDE or SCSI controllers that are either built into the motherboard or available via add-on cards.

get a new HDD this really looks like u got some bad sektors on your disk .. they mustn loose data to crash windows it is fully enough if it takes endless to read them ... now ur defre tool moved this data to a good one I think ....
Its funny you say that because first off, the Disk Defragmenter took AGES and after I restarted comp it done a chkdsk, which found literally LOUDS of bad sectors and had to fix it up.
A new HDD aye. Ah damnit even more money need. I think I should just build up my money and get a whole new comp, wouldnt that be easier???
Ok well thanks for all your advice and help . I really learn new stuff and its cool .
Thanks again,
Chaos

Get a whole new comp. And if they sell it with some crappy GF4 MX stick in the ti4200 you have the moment...
Dont buy from them shit ones. I'd suggest custom if you know what you're doing.
Don't forget to buy a liquid nitro kit for some uber overclocking :P
