I recomend both - I have both - but I must give you the LOW DOWN...

If you are into the realistic action of games then BFVC is a must and if you are a BF 1942 Player then BFVC is a MUST... (Problems) No matter what kind of PC, Video, RAM etc. this game has a stutter issue - even if you set to lower setting when playing ONLINE - (Patch Needed Immediately).

If you like futuristic mayhem then it's UT 2004 - (Vehicles - FINALLY) So many different game types and killing mayhem. (Problem) this also has a weird skip to it when playing ONLINE it warps forward when running.

I'm still trying to figure out if it's a GRAPHICS problem with these two games or simply a NET CODE problem. I haven't noticed any problems when playing SINGLE player but ONLINE I've seen some weird STUTTER and SKIPPING in both BFVC and UT 2004 and this is with a half decent system and a great connection - LOW PINGS during game play this problem still existed???

I have both and I SUGGEST getting BOTH - I play BFVC all the time and probably will until the next BF comes out in 2 years but that's just me - it does have problems.

If I personally were only able to get 1 - I would go with BFVC - I point more to the realistic than the futuristic...

ok....please vote to get a better result....

so , i like realistic games more but UT has more game types and is "bigger" than BF like u said and maybe the time that UT is played is much bigger because of the game types
BF is interesting because u don´t have to shoot senseless in the area
u have to cover ur area and u have to use strategy to win
senseless shooting = loosing the game

hehe I like the shooting around more
but as you mention ... shooting around = loss ...
I was once in a very funny situation ...
It was LAN gaming time and I disliked the multiplayer ... so I just jumped around and did BS (only freaks played that ... otheres did not even join) and I got rocket launcher ... moving mouse up and down ... pointed on a house ... and FIRE ... LMAO right that point someone came round the corner and ran directly into the bullet ... LOL that was so funny ... he screamed like hell and everybody laughed since they saw that it was just very very very much of luck ....

it was fun, "strategy" and shooting with nice "funny situations" like u
good balanced for me
but now i need some new stuff
but UT and BF are too much in one side , i think

I too have just bought both. However they both could have probably come out as add ons rather than full games.

BF:V, The only real reason was so that at last the Bots could fly helicopters and take some (not many) orders, and I can't wait to see what mods can be converted to use this, i.e. Desert Combat etc. I enjoy playing more against (less) stupid bots than online against arrogant basecamping kiddies.
Oh and the graphics are a bit of a dissapointment, very laggy around buildings which is strange as all the trees and water don't seem to affect performance much.

UT2004: - Only really for the new onslaught mode, which adds vehicles into the fray, but its more for just a occasional fast action blast on one of the MANY levels, but probably not worth the full price if you've have UT2003.

So I voted for BF:V

BFV is really not as good as the previous BF1942 - the levels are kinda boring and you dont have the same grandous battlefields that made the first one great - theres just lots of plants and you cant really drive your tank anywhere

UT2004 - I have never seen a game with that much value and content before.

UT 2004. The replay value is higher (offline).

I preordered UT2K4 after playing the demo. I sold BF1942 plus both expansion packs since I didn't play them anymore and won't get BF:V because for realism my taste is Americas Army.

Top 10 Things UT2004 and BF: Vietnam Fans Say To Each Other

Multiplayer shooters Unreal Tourament 2004 and Battlefield: Vietnam came out this week and according to GameSpy's online player stats page, the DICE-EA game has the lead over the Epic-DE-Atari game in terms of players, despite some mixed reviews for BF: Vietnam and glowing ones for UT 2004. So what do the players of both games say to the other camp to taunt and tease them? HomeLAN has gotten the top 10 things each camp says to make the other mad:

10. UT2004-BF: Vietnam - "Your game; old looking jets. Our game; new and cool Raptors."
9. BF: Vietnam-UT2004 - "We get to recreate cool Vietnam war movies like Apocalypse Now and Operation Dumbo Drop."
8. UT2004-BF: Vietnam - "We can put in 'Dixie" on our vehicle car horn if we want."
7. BF: Vietnam-UT2004 - "We have Credence songs in our radio soundtrack."
6. UT2004-BF: Vietnam - "Nothing beats the Translocator."
5. BF: Vietnam-UT2004 - "Nothing beats dropping a mobile spawn point on your enemies' doorstep."
4. UT2004-BF: Vietnam - "Blowing up enemy teams with a Redemmer makes my day."
3. BF: Vietnam-UT 2004 - "Having lots of player classes and vehicle choices makes my day."
2. UT2004-BF: Vietnam - "We get to go to spaccccceee."
1. BF: Vietnam-UT2004: - "We get to learn about new cultures, meet interesting people and kill them."

As a Viet Nam vet, I can tell you the game gives me flashback's. The Old Lady hid the thing on me so I would stop low crawling thru the house

UT2003 was nothing compared to 2004. This is a whole new game to me, new assault mode (I know it was in original UT but its not in this comparison - if you're not happy, play that), a new Onslaught mode which is good fun, great frantic action, and the best thing of all in any game, FUN!

I think UT2004 is much more fun. Your call Biene.
