Batteryless technology for my stationary mouse?
The new 'leather' mouse from Microsoft have the 'Will degrade itself in power until it die' feature, and it is not available with 'batteryless technology'. Anyone else feel 'forgotten' in the wireless mania? Anyone else feel that they prefer an 'immortal' mouse in front of one that have uhm.

Anyone else feel that they prefer an 'immortal' mouse in front of one that have uhm... the 'estetic' feature of not having a cord?
In a 5cm radius I can move my Explorer 3.0 over a 1600x1200 screen with ease. Since my first optical I havnt even 'feeled' the cord, and that was 4 years ago... So why on earth would I want to cut the 'lifegiver'?

He's asking why all the new mice are wireless and not corded.
Has that post been run through babelfish a few times?
...and I agree, I really have never had a problem with the cord getting in the way, but I can see having a battery run out in the middle of a game being annoying. The mX500 is a nice corded mouse, jsut a pity microsoft have all but abandonded corded mice with their new stuff.

ahhh now i understand what your talking about.
I guess it's because of the popularity of cordless mice...
I youst to have the original corded intelimouse explorer and I'm now using the wireless explorer (not the new one).
Since wireless mice came down in price a year or so ago everyone seems to have 'em so I guess its easier for MS to make wireless mice than it is to produce corded ones and have them sitting in a warhouse somewhere cos oneone wants 'em.

Well, I wrote that message kinda as a 'joke' based upon the microsoft.com/mouse website.
There is a new, sweet mouse available, in leather, but it is cordless.
I do not wish to mess with batteries for no reason other than getting rid of a cable that does bother me at all...
In all this 'Wireless' mania, I feel forgotten. Now I must request something I always taken for granted, just becouse of a few fellows wish to bring the mice into the shower, or what the hell they are using it for.
'Wireless', is a technology without purpose. It is to me similiar to the sun-powered flashlight, or a electricity-driven generator.
Three technology 'buzzwords' I made up is therefore 'Batteryless Technology' or 'Lifegiving Technology', or why not simply 'Immortality Technology'. Buzzwords that actually makes sense to what I feel.
All three means that there is a cord connected to the mouse, that makes batteries unneccessary.

I can see where your coming from on the battery side of things as I'm forever changing my batteries. And as you said earlier this is sometimes while playing a game.
I've found that buying a set of rechargables is the answer but still you have to change 'em every week or so.
But then again since I've got the new Intelipoint software I've been having less problems because unlike the previous version it doesn't give you a warning 2 mins before the batteries give out, this way I have time to exit the game or pause it to go and get the other set of batteries in my charger.
I might well have a look at that leather mouse too sounds quite nice.
Then again I dunno if I can afford it at the moment I just bought myself and Apple iPod, bought a 5800 Ultra because it was going at a rock bottom price and haven't long bought a 256mb flashmemory watch.
Well I guess I'll just have to wait.....

I still use an original V1 explorer (quite a few years old now, I got an early release of it while in singapore before most (US/AU/UK) countries saw it.)
I've had to fix breaks in the cable a couple of times, but it's been quite good considering it's age.
If I went with a cordless mouse it'd need to take standard NiMh AA's so I could keep a spare set charged using the 6 slot AA charger I got for my Mp3 player. :D

Of course the huge advantage of NiMh over NiCd is that is has very little to no "memory effect" when recharged, so you don't have to worry about completely discharging it everytime to avoid ruining it's max charge capacity.
NiMh also keep thier voltage more stable throughout thier entire charge, check a used Alkaline or NiCd and it will have dropped in voltage, wheras a NiMh will maintain a fairly constant voltage until quite flat. :D
