Hi, ive surfed the net quite enough and dissapointingly found no solution to my problem: distortion of audio (i.e; winamp turned on or wmplayer) when transferring files from HDD to HDD/LAN to HDD.. This is my PC's specs:

Athlon XP 1800+
Abit KX7333R
512 PC2100 DDR (Mushkin Basic)
Gainward Geforce4 Ti4600
Seagate Barracuda IV 7200 Ata 100 40 Gb (Master IDE 1)
Seagate Barracuda IV 7200 Ata 100 40 Gb (Slave IDE 1)
Sony DVD ROM 16X (Master IDE2)
Sony CD-RW 8x4x32 (Slave IDE2)
Maxtor Diamond Max 60 Gb Ata 133 (Primary IDE on Raid [iDE 3])
SB Audigiy DE (On PCI slot 3)
3Com 3C905C-TX NIC (On PCI slot 4)
Samsung PC Audio NewQ (Equalizer thats connected to my sound card)
Windows XP Pro SP1
Also Using Vcool

I hope that this illustrates the way I hooked up the components on my rig, sorry if it confuses anybody.

-I've tried using default settings from my BIOS but still when I transfer large files across hard disks/copying files from LAN webservers: a screeching sound was heard when I was playing any song from winamp or windows media player..sort of like the transfering stuff was distorting the audio, is it my Audigy?

-Tried to disable Master Read Caching and Delay Transaction in the BIOS but still no changes.

-Even tried to use one hard disk at a time, changing PCI slots, tweaking PCI latency timers, (usual diagnostics)..

-My friend with the same specs as mine except that he has Abit KR7A-R didn't have the problem Though..

Please can anyone share any solutions to this problem.. thanks for the help...

If it's a VIA based mobo, try the PCI Latency patch, it's solved every sound / ide related problem I've seen on friends/families systems.

Is the latest Beta.

One of the main fixes:
"When copying through IDE, Sounds played by a Creative Labs sound card are distorted."

I fixed the sound problems with changing IRQs of my IDE Controller & my Sound Card.
Some BIOSes have the setting "PCI Latency Clock". (default 32 or 64)
Setting this value higher fix sound problems and gives you more stability.
Setting lower is faster but degrades system stability and do some probs with sound cards. (i most ways creative cards)
