Hi all... just bought a laptop, my first ever... wot i wanna know is were i can get the latest drivers for the grafix card.

Its an Advent 7027 P4 3.06 laptop with an Ati mobility radeon 9000 (64mb) grafix chip.

I have already tryed gettin an updated driver from Advents website but they just direct me to Ati's web addy... now this is were the problem is as Ati's web site does'nt keep grafix drivers for laptops, and in turn directs you back to the manufacturer where you got it from!
Good huh!

I have also tryed other laptop manufacturers, with same grafix, but the drivers dont seem to load in!

If someone can help, or has had the same problem then please let me know :0)

Oh also i have tryed to use Ati's Catalyst drivers with the modding tool to convert them to laptop drivers...
This worked well and i was using Cat 3.10 on laptop.

Now i know wot ur thinkin " You've just answered your own question" :0)
but i would rather have the proper drivers for the job... besides them being slower on 3DMark2001se (oh no! not that dreaded program) :knife:

Any help much appreaciated, and thanks in advance :hail:

the drivers modded by omega work for mobility as I know ...
and hey ... this driver mod is just a very very little modifiction to the inf ... just open the omega driver install .inf and search for ya card after you have patched the driver .... now copy those lines and just insert them into the next catalyst release ... this will ensure that there is no difference to the original driver but support ur card

What are the highest resolutions the Omega's support? The reason for asking is I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 with a Radeon Mobility 9600 Pro Turbo. The screen is a 15.4" WUXGA running a native rez of 1920x1200. Do Omega drivers support this higher resolution and as such, 16:9 aspect ratios.

I had a quick skim over the readme and it made mention that there are options added to stretch the image to suit flat panel and laptop screens. But at what cost to image quality? ie.Image distortion, pixelation etc. This is the main reason for using the genuine manufacturer drivers. They are setup to suit any special features your laptop may support like widescreen for example.

It is up to 2048x1536. My laptop only support 1024x768, by using the omega it enable me to go until 2048x1536 but not fit to the screen cause my laptop can't go that high. This is one of the draw back, but what do you expecting it is not build specificlly for the series of certain notebook.
it works fine on mine and it fits right on the screen and the image quality is just like the manufacture mobility driver.

Give it a shot, if it doesn't work just uninstall it, whats the big deal.
