until now i was working with a nice AMD k6-2 500 mhz with redfox board
ok it had some compatibility problems with Creative RIvatnt2 but it was fixed if i used the Detenator XP drivers
few days ago i desided to buy a new motherboard and CPU
so i bought Asus A7s333 and AthlonXP 1800+ 0.13
i sat in my home i opened the asus box and took the board. assembeled the CPU into the slot put a Volcano 7+ hooked up to a case and powered it up
first the Cimos is lame because it's kinda like phinix first it didn't want to work with my HD which the HD worked on the older comp
it is WDC 8.4 5400 RPM
i flashed the BIOS did not work
i took another HD put it in and it worked
YEA OK NOW OS
i entered the WIn2000 Boot cd
he started loading up some Deviced and when it reached the part of "Starting WIndows 2000" it stucked there
i look into it and i found that the CPU is working good with the board so i took my 1600+ CPU 0.18 and put it in
so the install went good but when i came to windows i had problems running games.
when i tryed running games after a few seconds of playing the comp stuck
i tryed few drivers few AGP drivers
some settings nothing worked
the buttom like is i dont like this board.
i think it made of cheap quality not asus regularity or maybe i just have bad luck
:[
another thing is if the 8.4 HD is hooked up the bios loads him but when it allmost finish the POST window it write "Drive Fails"
but when im booting to windows with my other HD and the Failed HD hooked up as slave windows detect him even if the bios didn't
i flashed the bios to the newest version did not work.
you are good listeners thanks you

I hope you didn't "forgot" to upgrade your PSU ?!?

If using the 80wire UDMa cables make sure blue end is connected to mainboard and black end to master drive

BTW you've chosen a usually stable but one of the slower SIS745 boards - MSI 745Ultra was much faster
SIS745 is outdated for a while now - ECS MSI and Asrock have cheap and stable SIS746/-FX mainboards

i also have this m/b, and have had decent luck with it.
however, i just got a 2400 cpu, and i cannot get the system to recognize it.
it shows in the bios info, but will not allow the system to boot up.
i have used asus update and am running bios revision 1006, but still to no avail
any clues?

Hmmm - a new PSU but only a 300W one ?
Is it a branded one or "El Cheapo" ?

Are the voltages stable and not under specifications ?
What's your memory and used timings ? > timings might be too fast for your memory

Hanging after a few minutes usually is an overstressed / overheating PSU or an overheating CPU
