I check on the properties if its enabled and it aint so whats going on?
Yes I do shutdown my PC properly.
Just a small note. I done this before couple weeks ago and I got rid of it through MS-DOS through some command but I forgotten it but when I did get rid of it, Windows XP took A LONGGGGG time to load, it just stayed on the Welcome screen for like 5-10minutes! In the end I had to keep on pressing CTRL+ALT+Delete to get in.
So will this happen if get rid of the ChkDisk again???
Thank for the help

I have the same prob here, but it only occurs from time 2 time. Sumtimes it just feel like letting the scandisk run n sumtimes it feels like i should indeed press ctrl-alt-del to continue the boot. I was close friends with my comp but it seems it's starting to dislike me:(
Btw, norton isn't gonna solve a thing when it comes to virii...u need kaspersky. While Norton will find 6 out of every 10 virii....Kaspersky will find 9,9 out of 10. Not just an oppinion, proven fact in dozens of tests.

Well try going THROUGH the chkdisk. Whatever the reason that its there for must be good enough for you to look at - since its not only when you do bad shutdowns that it comes up. Let it check you and then see if it still appears.

I have. I've let it go through it hundreds of times. I dunno why it does it. It doesnt even find anything
All you have to do is boot into Windows, start up a Command Prompt and type:
chkntfs /x (drive letter)
so if the drive it keeps scanning is E:, for example, you'd type chkntfs /x e:
Also, although the command suggests it's for NTFS only, it will work for FAT32 drives too.
Hope this helps :)

Sounds to me like u might have a bad segment or virus orsome other nasty on your hard drive. I have 5 pc's and none of them bring scandisk up also u might want to defrag and generally tidy up your hard drive. Then again u could just do a install and if it still plays up it may be one of the above or a bad os disk in which case u will need to go get another copy from wherether.

Thanks alot. Yeah I've got Nortan Anti-Virus so ill install that. Ive taken it off because it slows down my net and just slows the comp generally too.
Thanks again :)
