i have a compaq bios and can't find any options to change the agp transfer rate
still dosn't explain why you think your mobo chipset is intel make heh.
see if compaq has a bios update that may add it, prob not tho...
or check your manual, your mobo will prob have a jumper for it, then again maybe not. Then maybe your compaq can prob detect, its own agp rate, and it prob jus don't like that nv17 you got. It really dosn't matter, there is virtualy NO diffrence in performance bewteen 1x, and 4x or even 8x.
they would be if vcards came with no texture ram, but they do, swaping out to main memory on most vcards, is somthing thats pretty taboo, due to the huge speed pently anyway.

oh right theres sutch a huge diff, i'd deff wanta if i was a game dev, to swap to agp textureing in view of using my vmem, I jus love that 1gb sec of bandwidth, its juss so huge!!!, i hope you know even a dual voodoo II has 4.3gb/sec of mem bandwidth, thas a pretty old card/cards.
AGP dosn't matter, IT will not matter for several years, not till main system ram caches up, witch is starting to happen on the I875.
and video editing IS 2d.... and its more dependant on the speed of your hd's for streaming/capturing...

lol
just try and make a benchmark of your card with agp1x enabled instead of 4x!
have long ago, on a Kt266a, no diff, 3dmark2001 DOSN'T actualy use
agp texturing on a VCARD, that has 128mb of ram, more importantly, if i changed that around and benched with a Geforce 2 Gts with 32mb for example, the diff bewteen AGP1x and 4x is under .02% agp transfer RATE is not a factor jus freakin look it up ureself lazy. but i'll do it for ya
http://www.tech-report.com/columns/damage/...q4/agp/index2.x
can't find the old article on agp 1x, but this will do, it clearly shows NO diff bewteen 2x and 4x and a diffrence of under 1% is in the margin of error... The only real benfit of agp4x is its lowervoltage witch is still used regardless, of the transfer rate set.
Jus ran a bench on the card were debating here, the 440mx 8xagp
big diff bewteen 1x and 4x, so huge its mind boggling, A whole 100 3dmark 2k1 POINTS!!! wow!! way in the margin of error.
