ok,ok
in fact it is simple and totally legal! just have to follow that tutorial
(in french )
http://www.infos-du-net.com/modules/news/a...php?storyid=629
BUT I had something to it! the tutorial asks you to do a quick manipulation
which is impossible to do with fast modern hard drives!!
so what I simply did was to launch a defrag or scandisk to slow it down and was able to accomplish the manipulation!! :)

hmm maybe because he didnt have time...
his pc was probably starting and shutting down faster than 60seconds, is what he was having problems with.
NTFS.org has it stickied on their main newspage:
If you're having problems with the RPC exploit (a lot of people are) then read on..
This is my own personal solution that seems to have helped other people in the past 30 minutes or so..
* Boot up your computer
* Await the message informing you of the shutdown in 60 seconds
* open up start > run and type in "shutdown.exe -a" (minus the quotes)
* Now that the shutdown procedure has stopped, you have time to grab the patch
* Once you're all patched, use a virus scanner to check if you have one of the variations that leaves files on your hdd

true he did say that, but if you read his other post:

he says manipulation... i think he was refering to having to tell xp not to shut down with "shutdown.exe -a" as well. Due mainly to his "fast modern hard drive" and it powering up and shutting down so fast. I was just following the context of his posts.
hi
ok guys maybe you didnt undestand me well or wasn't able to say excatly, what I meant!
I dont care adout the Blaster Worm and Critical Security Patch for Windows XP (WindowsXP-KB823980-x86-FRA.exe)
What I wanted is the update (that was supposed to be delivered with SP1 but which is not ) for USB 1.1 and 2.0 troubles!
just read that:
http://www.warp2search.net/modules.php?nam...ticle&sid=13362
and that:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?...kb;en-us;822603
and i wasnt able to find the french version (if u know where i can find it, just tell me?)! I'm a particular and dont have any support of MS!
so I had to trick the digital signature checking mechanism of XP to force the installation of the english ones!
It is really a question of time !! no jokes!
that's all
but thanks for all your comments!

hi Mertsch,
I had troubles with a USB2.0 device!
please read that article about Windows XP Service Pack 1 USB Update - Missing In Action
and you will see that MS doesnt do always what he is saying!

ic .... you seem to be right .... searched around a bit .... I found a site hosting the german patch ..... maybe ... if the trouble is worth it you can try to extract the patch and replace files manual if installer does not work .... if you make a backup it is worth the try anyway
