Can a NV7-133R with the new DW bios that adds Thorton support work with a Barton CPU? Becase aren't Thortons just Bartons with half the cache disabled? I was looking at the Barton 2500+ CPU specificly. Thanks.

OP
The Abit site only says it adds Thorton support. And aren't all Thorton/Barton CPUs bus speed 333MHz? So would the bios support the CPU at that bus speed?

yeah barton are 333 but they will run at 400, too so why shouldn't they run at 266 .... just a suggestion ..
hmmmm
Supports AMD-K7 Athlon /Athlon XP Socket A 200/266MHz FSB Processors
Supports AMD-K7 Duron Socket A 200/266MHz FSB Processors

btw thorton is 266 as I know ....

the better question would be ... does a barton run at 266 FSB ???
if yes ... u know ....
u can also check if the nForce 415 support barton or not

as I just see there are athlon MPs with barton core running at 266

BUT if you want to upgrade to barton .... you should also get new mobo ... it would be of mach more use to get new mobo with athlon XP non-barton then keep old one and fit in a barton best would be to get barton and new mobo
NF7 e.g.
