there were 3 recent articles about (256) vs 512 vs 1024 vs 2048 MB RAM
:o
:o
and as i rememeber they all said that going 2 gb doesnt help one bit
though q4 changed that a bit, ultra quality really isnt playable on 256 gpu n 1 gb ram ;
ho well, finished the game already :P

as it was with Doom3 "Ultra" uses uncompressed textures which require a 512MB video card and it does not give any image quality changes you are able to see
yeah i know, after you load the textures once its usually playable so i tried it, no diff at all, 1280 with a bit aa looks much better ;]
Yep put me into the 3 (1 Gig) section with the rest of the 3 Gig Crew...
I have my 3 Gig on an Nforce 2 board which maxes it out. Personally the 3 Gig doesn't make any difference over the 1.5 Gig I had originally as 3x512 chips.
For the person that stated about the 2 Gig only being used for applications you could set the 3 Gig switch but let me tell you it could lock up your computer also... LOL.

I wasn't sure if it was worth getting another Gig but I now have 3 games that need up to 1.5GB, BF2, Fear & X3:Reunion, so it was worth it.
If you'd told me 20 years ago that home computers now would have 20000 times the processing power and 30000 times the memory of my mighty Commodore 64 yet they still don't know the meaning of life, I would have laughed my socks off! :lol:

Big thumbs up for 2 gig.
With 2 x 1gb OCZ Ram everything is buttery smooth. In addition, when I quit the game it immediately goes to the desktop! No lag.
Definately a happy chappy!!
